Ukranian techno heavyweight Stanislav Tolkachev brings new music to light in his recent 2 track release ‘Acropolis EP’, the first vinyl release on Italian independent imprint ‘24/H’ headed by label boss Marthial who also features on the EP taking on remix duties of ‘Acropolis 01’.
The EP begins with ‘Acropolis 01’. The track storms in with a rich sub drone and a glistening high end roll which modulates into an squeaking acidic line. Before long, the track takes shape in true Tolkachev form with his signature detuned random bleepiness coming to take the podium along with a boomy rolling kick drum.
Label boss Marthial then takes Tolkachevs ideas in his own direction and ups the pace in his remix of Acropolis 01. A hard-hitting boomy kick takes the spotlight with strong percussion complementing Tolkachevs acid drones along with loopy random goodness in a hypnotic power-hour destroyer.
‘Acropolis 02’ is traditional Tolkachev. Hard-as-nails percussion and strange dystopian loops throughout, tailing off into unsettling envelopes keeping the listener on the edge throughout the record.
‘Acropolis EP’ stays true to the classic Tolkachev sound we all know while exploring new ideas. This release is a breath of fresh air into Tolkachev’s essential catalogue and a strong record for Marthial’s 24/H imprint.
